Dr Helen Wright, Headmistress of a 30k-a-year public school in Wiltshire, England, has made a splash with her widely pre-publicised speech to the Institute of Development Professionals in Education this week.  Dr Wright says, “almost everything that is wrong with western civilisation today can be summed up in Ms Kim Kardashian.”  Ms Kardashian is famous for a behavioural ‘inferno’, and particularly for “Keeping up with the Kardashians”.  This television programme may be an illustration of the Constant and Never-Ending Debasement (CAND) in society, of both values and morality.  I cannot help thinking, however, that women seem to be taking the blame again!  I seem to recall that Eve, in the Garden of Eden, also got blamed for the fall of God’s utopian creation, when she boldly went where no man had been before … and proffered the apple to be eaten.  Maybe God was a woman then too?

How about holding Ms Kardashian up as a symbol for Constant and Never-Ending Improvement (CANI)? (Which, by the way, is a phrase coined by Tony Robbins.)  Dr Helen Wright could better discuss Ms Kardashian as a reminder of what not to copy, and what not to follow, what not to be conditioned to be.  As such, Ms Kardashian would be an agent and arbiter of change, of higher expectations, and greater vision, so creating young women who have much more than their physical assets to move and shake!

Go for it, Eve!
